Glasgow City Foundation are delighted to announce further investment in the City Academy with Stephen Main appointed full-time as the Junior Development and Pathway Lead Coach.

The highly regarded UEFA licensed coach will be responsible for the Junior Academy, overseeing the programme for our U8’s, U10’s and U12’s, as well as leading the first step of our Elite Next Gen pathway, with the Glasgow City U13’s.

Commenting on Stephen’s appointment, Glasgow City Academy Manager Sarah Crilly said, “We are delighted to appoint Stephen into this exciting new role for the Academy. He has been working with the club for a number of years now and was the outstanding candidate for our new permanent, full-time position. As one of the leading academies in the country the investment in our youngest talent is extremely important as we continue to give girls the best opportunity they can to excel on and off the pitch.

“Stephen’s appointment comes only a few months after our Head of Player Development, Michael Gaughan, moved from a full-time hybrid role which included first team commitments, to permanently leading our Academy player development and technical framework.

“We are building something truly special here at Glasgow City and we are delighted to add Stephen to the team.”

On his appointment, Stephen said, “I am absolutely delighted to be taking on this exciting new role with the Academy on a full-time basis. Having worked with the club for a number of years, I have seen first-hand the ambition, dedication and commitment that goes into developing young talent at Glasgow City.

I believe investing in our youngest players is hugely important, and I am excited to play my part in helping provide our girls with the best possible opportunities to develop, grow and fulfil their potential, both on and off the pitch. I can’t wait to get started and a huge thank you to the club and Glasgow City Foundation for giving me this opportunity.”
